The pause system in teaching grammatical texts: a descriptive and analytical study of the methodological foundations and educational functions
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article studies and analyzes the pause system in teaching grammatical texts in
Qur’anic schools, as it is one of the traditional educational methods that contributed to
transferring linguistic knowledge and consolidating it among learners. The article aims to
reveal the concept of the pause, explain its methodological foundations, and clarify how it is
applied within Quranic education circles, in addition to highlighting its educational and
pedagogical functions in building the grammatical skills of students.
The study showed that the pause does not merely represent an excerpted part of the text, but
rather it is an integrated educational unit based on dividing the scientific material into short,
interconnected passages, each of which is allocated an independent council that combines
memorization, memorization, explanation, discussion, and evaluation. It also showed that this
system is based on a set of educational principles, the most prominent of which are the gradual
provision of knowledge, taking into account individual differences among learners, and
achieving a balance between memorizing text and understanding its contents, which makes it
an effective method in teaching grammatical texts.
The article relied on the descriptive and analytical approach by describing the mechanisms of
operation of the pause system and analyzing its educational dimensions. It concluded that this
method represents an integrated educational model that combines the authenticity of traditional
education with the effectiveness of modern educational principles, and contributes to
developing the skills of memorization, understanding and application, and in forming the
learner capable of absorbing grammatical rules and investing them in dealing with Arabic texts.
